Introduction

This Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as "this Policy") sets forth the handling of personal information and other information of Users in the iOS application "TouringTrace" (hereinafter referred to as "the App") provided by Shoichi Taguchi (hereinafter referred to as "the Operator").

The Operator complies with Japan's "Act on the Protection of Personal Information" (hereinafter referred to as "APPI") and related laws and regulations, and handles Users' personal information appropriately.

Please read this Policy carefully before using the App. By using the App, you are deemed to have agreed to this Policy.

Note: We do not require account registration with email addresses, passwords, names, or other personally identifiable information, and we do not collect such information.

3. Purpose of Information Use

The collected information is used for the following purposes:

  1. Providing App Features: To provide features such as motorcycle management, maintenance management, ride recording, and statistics display
  2. Location-Based Services: For route tracking during ride recording, map display, and distance/speed measurement
  3. Vehicle Inspection Certificate QR Code Scanning: To scan vehicle inspection certificate QR codes with the camera and automatically enter vehicle information
  4. Motorcycle Image Management: To save images selected from the photo library associated with motorcycle information
  5. App Improvement: To improve features and quality of the App based on usage analysis
  6. Bug Detection and Fixes: To collect and analyze crash reports for bug fixes
  7. Performance Optimization: To measure and improve performance such as app launch time and screen rendering speed
  8. Sending Notifications: To send notifications such as maintenance alerts
  9. Cross-Device Data Sync: To synchronize data across multiple devices for Premium plan users via iCloud (CloudKit)

4. Data Storage Location and Methods

4.1 Data Storage

Data entered and recorded in the App (motorcycle information, maintenance records, ride records, vehicle inspection certificate information, image data, location information, etc.) is stored in encrypted form on the device.

4.2 Data Sync via iCloud

Premium plan users can sync their data across devices through iCloud (CloudKit), a service provided by Apple.

Important Information About iCloud

  • iCloud sync is available only to Premium plan users. On the free plan, all data is stored only on the device.
  • Data stored in iCloud is saved in a private area associated with the User's Apple ID, and cannot be accessed by the Operator or any third party.
  • Management of data in iCloud (encryption, storage location, security) follows Apple's privacy policy and security standards. For details, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • iCloud sync can be disabled at any time. You can stop syncing from the App's settings screen, by changing iCloud settings in the iOS Settings app, or by canceling the Premium plan.
  • Even if iCloud sync is disabled, data on the device remains available.

5. Disclosure to Third Parties

5.1 Third-Party Services Used

The App uses third-party analytics services based in the United States for the purpose of app improvement, bug detection, and performance optimization. Anonymous user IDs, app usage events, crash reports, and device information are sent to these services.

Regarding Provision to Third Parties Located Abroad

The third-party analytics services used are all operated by companies headquartered in the United States. Anonymized usage information transmitted through these services may be stored on servers in the United States or other countries. Each service provider protects personal data based on appropriate frameworks such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC).

Please note that the personal information protection systems in the United States differ from those in Japan. For details, please refer to the "Survey on Systems for the Protection of Personal Information in Foreign Countries" published by the Personal Information Protection Commission of Japan.

5.2 Data Transmission to Apple (iCloud)

When Premium plan users have iCloud sync enabled, the data described in "4.2 Data Sync via iCloud" above is transmitted to and stored on Apple's servers. This data is stored in a private CloudKit database associated with the User's Apple ID, and the Operator cannot access it.

5.3 Information Not Transmitted to Third-Party Analytics Services

The following information is not transmitted to third-party analytics services:

  • Motorcycle information (name, mileage, images, etc.)
  • Vehicle inspection certificate information (vehicle identification number, license plate, owner name, owner address, etc.)
  • Maintenance records
  • Ride records (routes, GPS coordinates, ride data, etc.)
  • Location information
  • Photo/image data

5.4 Third-Party Disclosure Policy

The Operator will not provide Users' personal information to third parties except in the following cases:

  1. When the User has given consent
  2. When required by law
  3. When necessary for the protection of life, body, or property of a person and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
  4. When particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound development of children and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual
  5. When it is necessary to cooperate with a national government agency, local government, or a person entrusted by them in executing affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the consent of the individual would impede the execution of such affairs

6. Security Measures

The Operator takes the following measures to prevent leakage, loss, or damage of the collected information and to ensure its security:

Technical Security Measures

  • Data Encryption: Data is stored in encrypted form and managed securely
  • Anonymous Authentication: User identification uses anonymous authentication, with no handling of authentication credentials such as email addresses or passwords

Organizational Security Measures

  • Limiting the scope of personal information handling to the minimum necessary
  • Regular review and updating of this Policy

7. Links to External Services

The App may contain links to external services such as Wikipedia. Please refer to the privacy policy of each service for information on how they handle information. The Operator is not responsible for the handling of information by external services.

8. Changes to the Privacy Policy

The Operator may change the content of this Policy in response to amendments to laws, changes to the App's features, or other reasons.

The revised Privacy Policy shall take effect from the time it is posted within the App. In the case of significant changes, Users will be notified through the App or other appropriate means.

10. Governing Law

This Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan.
